Music and instructions from Thompson's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1814. The instructions found in Contredanses à Paris 1818 are (with variations) more commonly danced today. Both versions plus a modern interpretation are given below.

1st Cu: hands 3 round with 2d Lady same with 2d Gent: down the mid: up again & right & left

Contredanses à Paris 1818 Old Way
1st Cu: down middle, up again and cast off
1st Cu: and 2nd Cu: down the middle and up again facing each other the whole way
These two Cu: Poussette.
NB Of course in going down the 2nd time the 1st Cu: and the 2nd Cu: in coming up dance backwards

Modern version
A1 1st couple 8 gallops down the set. Gallop back to 2nd place
B1 Both couples join hands and 8 gallops down the set and back
C1 Each couple poussettes around the other couple and back to place.
